Today at work my iPod was on shuffle and Luke 11 came on… the verse that really stuck out to me was this: Luke 11:34~ “The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when [your eye] is bad, your body also [is] full of darkness.”
This verse was interesting because a few nights ago I had a nightmare that my eye had an infection, I didn’t really think through it too much at the time but when I heard this passage today it made me think that we deal with infections (or sins) daily, temptations, impatience, attitude problems, and every single one of those “infections” can affect our “lamps”. I am called to be a light of Christ, not the reason why someone doesn’t want to believe. The passage goes on to say~
35″Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. 36 “If then your whole body [is] full of light, having no part dark, [the] whole [body] will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”
I don’t want to be a hypocrite, claiming the light of Christ but shining darkness…I want to be the light of Christ, a person who doesn’t point out the faults of others (like the Pharisees) but genuinely is so captivated by her Savior that the light of her Savior can’t help but spill out. I don’t want infection to cancel out the light. I want the light to illuminate the darkness… in everything I say and do!
I’m off to camp this week! I am excited to see what God will do and to encourage these young ladies that we are called to shine for our Savior in our everyday lives (“Designed to Shine”) if you will for our Savior with every friend, acquaintance, customer service person, teachers, everyone. My prayer is this: that we may all leave the mountain with a new hope and boldness to shine so brightly for Christ that people can’t help but see that we have something to share…bursting at the seams with a truth they can’t deny… UNASHAMED to share the hope we have within! God Bless<><
