Oh the Tender Mercies of God!!!

This weekend was incredible, exactly what the Great Physician ordered! The past few weeks I felt like I was walking around in a daze… unable to process or wrap my mind around recent events, and every year, while I never seem to think I “need” teaching in this area, I am proven wrong and blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

The tender mercies of God show His love and compassion towards His children. Donna and Margie performed “Mercy Moments” as Sheep “Goodness” and “Mercy” and it was such a powerful picture of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He knows His sheep and He calls them by name, His sheep know Him and listen to His voice:

John 10:1-5

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

What a powerful passage! If we are Children of God, His sheep, we will not be deceived by “another gospel” we KNOW the Shepherd’s voice and we follow Him. Our Shepherd shows us tender mercies because He does not allow the wolf to destroy us, He protects His sheep, He knows what is best for us and has laid down His own life for us…bleeting and stupid sheep.

Romans 5:8 says: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The Gospel is simple: 1 Corinthians 15:3-8

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

The resurrection actually happened, there were hundreds of eye witnesses and because He rose from the dead, we can have eternal life if we believe on Him. We don’t have to work for our salvation, the work of Christ is already done. We simply “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31.
